Vehicles in German Town Discovered Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Approximately 50 cars have been covered with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.

Law enforcement say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.

The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.

Police then located many other marked cars and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials say initial examinations suggest the substance was most likely blood from a person.

"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; officials are not yet aware of any injuries in relation with the event," they commented.

Local authorities announced they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the public for tips.

A senior official said the vandalism left him stunned and needed to be addressed quickly.

"This event affects the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he wrote on a platform, recalling the murder of nine victims by a shooter aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
