The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop as a Deeply Strategic Tabletop Role-Playing Game

The gritty universe from Tom Clancy’s The Division will be adapted into a dice-based role-playing experience. A collaboration was established to create a TTRPG that explores the series' apocalyptic landscape. This initiative was revealed, with a funding drive scheduled to launch in April of 2026.

"This endeavor will bring the series' unique suspense, strategic depth, and iconic world-building to the tabletop, providing fans a fresh avenue to engage with The Division through deep narrative and mission-based gameplay," reads an official release.

Initial offerings will include a beginner's box, core rulebooks, a GM screen, miniatures, and several deluxe editions.

Exploring The Division's Apocalyptic World

In this setting, a deadly virus called Green Poison was unleashed in New York City, plunging the United States into turmoil. As the pandemic worsens, civil order breaks down and hostile groups emerge, transforming the urban landscape into a warzone. To restore law and order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a covert network of sleeper agents. This is where the players come in.

Development on the RPG has been in progress for approximately several years, and it is confirmed to be complete. The upcoming Kickstarter campaign will function as a preorder system to access a broader market, specifically in the United States. Manufacturing will start immediately following the campaign, with shipping projected for later in 2026.

A Streamlined Tactical System: The GRIS System

A preview at the system reveals it uses 10-sided dice exclusively through its new GRIS system, encouraging a fast-paced and strategic approach. Players use skills or traits to roll small dice pools, usually between one and five d10s.

  • Rather than adding results together, players select a single “resolution die” from the pool.
  • This die is then measured against a target difficulty.
  • Achieving a perfect 10 triggers additional bonuses, such as increased harm or boosted support.

Engagements Focus On Positioning and Awareness

Battles stress placement and situational awareness, mirroring the video games. Elements like cover, elevation, or visibility directly influence dice rolls. This system seems built to reward teamwork and clever tactics instead of raw numbers.

A Thematic Wound Mechanic

The way injuries is tracked adds a compelling narrative layer. Operatives have a injury limit; taking heavy hits weakens their effectiveness by decreasing the size of their dice pool.

  1. At critical condition, an agent collapses, but is not knocked out.
  2. They may still crawl and take limited actions, simulating the last stand common to video game shooters.
  3. Any agent in this state must consult a trauma table, potentially gaining persistent effects like shock or mobility-impairing wounds.

An Introductory Adventure

A publicly available Quickstart Guide will be released soon. It contains a ready-to-play starting adventure called Ashes of Murray Hill. In this scenario, the group spearhead the search for a missing medical team and work to stop an assault by the violent Rikers gang, who have seized control of that NYC neighborhood. More specifics and the full range of offerings will be detailed near the Kickstarter start date.
