Performer Refutes Anti-Vaxxer Position Following Lending His Voice To Disputed Coronavirus Documentary
The "Taken" star has lent his voice to a recent film that questions the legitimacy of vaccinations and praises one-time government figure RFK Jr.
The Documentary's Provocative Origins
Titled "Plague of Corruption," the project is adapted from a well-known publication published by a controversial scientist, who gained notoriety during the global outbreak for assertions that Covid was a result of a bad strain of the flu vaccine.
Her collaborator, Kent Heckenlively, has previously authored books with conspiracy-prone figure the Infowars host. The producer wrote online celebrating Neeson's involvement in the film.
An Unequivocal Denial
The team of the actor have released a response firmly refuting implications that he subscribes to anti-vax beliefs.
"Everyone can recognize that corruption may occur within the medical sector, but that must not be conflated with rejection of vaccines," the statement reads. "He never has been, and remains not, against vaccines. His extensive work with the UN children's agency reinforces his long-held support for worldwide vaccination initiatives."
It added that the actor did not shape the film's editorial content and that concerns about its content ought to go to the filmmakers.
Major Assertions Within the Documentary
According to the documentary, the narration spoken by Neeson makes several strong claims:
- It claims that pro-vaccine voices have insisted on "blind obedience" to health authorities.
- It posits that "research has become deeply influenced by politics."
- Kennedy is featured saying, "The big problem with vaccines is that they simply are not adequately tested."
- It takes aim at Covid lockdowns, saying they caused psychological harm that resulted in thousands of lives.
- Regarding Covid vaccines, it references a perspective that they were "developed too quickly" and seen as "risky trials."
Previous Background and Ongoing Disputes
It includes a past television report about clinical trials on children, which was subsequently the subject of a formal apology by the broadcaster for violations of guidelines.
Recently, RFK Jr called on the Centers for Disease Control to alter its long-held position that there is no link between immunizations and autism spectrum disorder. This claim is repeated in the documentary, contrary to a fresh analysis from the World Health Organisation confirming no evidence has been found.
An Earlier Position of Endorsement
Differing from the documentary's narrative, Neeson has formerly voiced firm endorsement for vaccines in his position as a charity ambassador.
In 2022, he called vaccines as "a remarkable triumph," noting that "The discourse about vaccines in lately has forgotten how much benefit they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest human endeavors in history."
"Plague of Corruption" concludes with Neeson's script saying, "This isn't the conclusion of our narrative. It is the beginning of a different phase."
