Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a wide array of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, evil spirits, and dark forces growing in influence within the urban setting.
Warning: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The latest chapter ended with a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of heroes who will split off from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.
This warrior group consists of Teor (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
With 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
Hence, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three separate parties: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might appear out of place, but the actions of episode 3 show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose passing kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited the foes for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the character, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.
The traitor then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, north of the city, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each character has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, desires retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the region and warns that it is a nasty place.
- The warrior and The healer, having resisted his house’s orders to execute the target and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the team reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The healer defied the powerful family and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the clan.
This means them no alternative but to travel to the northern region in search of Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
Based on episode three’s follow-up content, we discover that the combat party won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Explorers and Schemers parties.
Fans can anticipate discovering which characters will be assigned to which table in the story’s last Overture episode, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
